Reflections on 2013 A to Z Challenge

In a word:  *phew*

Starting the A to Z Challenge, I admit that I thought it would be pretty easy to churn out a post for a single letter each day, especially when you got to throw Sunday's in as a break.  I quickly learned that was not the case and sitting down each night to write something new was both exciting and frustrating, but in a good way for both.

My very good friend @CorinneOFlynn turned me on to the challenge and as a fledgling writer I have relied on her insights and guidance in developing the tools and skills to write that novel I know is in my head.  There is so much involved in the art and science of writing and I had been reading so much on the tools and methodology that my brain was filling up and the only solution was just to put the books down, close the Blogs and just write.

And write I did.  I had a little theme on music going for a while and was writing Haiku which I have not done in over 20 years.  Work schedules got in the way from time to time but perseverance is probably the most important key to successfully completing the challenge and even faced with unexpected obstacles, I remained patient and finished.

I thought I would be tired of writing and worn out on the whole to-do  And the definition of success is going to vary from writer to writer depending on their individual goals.  But for me, I now understand that patience and perseverance are two critical keys to success.  And learning that lesson over the course of the month of April was awesome and rewarding and worth every minute.

Thanks @CorinneOFlynn, @AprilA2Z and all the other bloggers in the challenge for opening my eyes.

Mucho appreciated!!
